Suction hoses for autumnal hose applications. Which PUR hoses does industry particularly need in the fall?
Every year, the leaves fall in the fall. This means a lot of extra trips for the municipal waste disposal companies. The city of Hamburg, for example, disposes of around 13,000 tons of autumn leaves on average each year. The leaves are removed not only for a neat appearance, but also for safety reasons: Damp leaves form a slippery layer on the floors. They also clog gullies and hinder water drainage.
Municipal large and small sweepers are used to solve these problems. These are usually equipped with hoses that can be found in the Masterflex portfolio. The requirements for the hoses used here are primarily flexibility, microbe/hydrolysis resistance and abrasion resistance.
Our PUR hoses are used particularly often. They are flexible and robust, making them particularly suitable for use in and on sweepers. Especially in comparison to the frequently used rubber hoses, our conveying hoses made of PU are convincing due to their lower wall thickness and thus less weight. When it comes to handling, plastic hoses are convincing due to their better compressibility, which plays a role, for example, in lowerable brushes and lifting systems - or in extendable suction hoses.
For autumnal hose applications, PUR hoses from Masterflex are the best choice.
The best performance in terms of compressibility is offered by our Master-PUR H Streetmaster Pro, which was specially designed for this application. During leaf suction or street cleaning, the material stress is very high, because not only leaves, but also waste, broken pieces or stones are sucked in. As a rule, quite large diameters (200 - 400 mm) are used here to minimize the risks of clogging. The flow-optimized inside, the outside folding as well as the improved tensile and tear strength of our Master-PUR H Streetmaster Pro are further adaptations to ensure optimized conveyance in the field of street and drain cleaning.
In the field of portable leaf vacuums, our hoses are also in great demand. Here, handling is particularly important, as control is manual.
Overall, polyurethane hoses are characterized by their high resistance to abrasion, microbes and hydrolysis. They have two decisive advantages over rubber as a material: A significantly lower material thickness/weight and better flexibility.
